New Mexico State Forestry

The New Mexico State Forestry Division (NMSF) is responsible for wildland fire management on non-federal, non-tribal, and non-municipal lands.  In support of this, NMSF evaluates communities most at risk to wildfire and other natural hazards, and helps to develop management programs and mitigation projects. Landowners and communities are assisted in many ways: fire prevention and preparedness planning, forest management and improvement, community forestry, conservation programs, and educational outreach. Firewise and Fire Adapted Communities are cornerstones of NMSF’s public programs.
